[Xine-vdpau] artefacts on BBCHD

I posted today this message on the vdr mailing list complaining about
bad reception on a couple of transponders:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.vdr/40871
Now, on the BBCHD transponder, the signal quality is apparently ok, but
I still
have artefacts.
I have to say that I upgraded everything (distribution from mandriva
2009.0 to 2009.1, which implies a kernel upgrade, nvidia driver, etc.)
but, IIRC, I saw the problem even before upgrading. I reconfigured and
recompiled both xine-lib and xine-ui but the problem remains.
Running xine-vdpau with --verbose I don't see any error message.
If I play the clip using the distro provided xine, I don't see any
artifact, however it may be due to the fact that it isn't using vdpau
and it is too slow to keep up (playback isn't smooth), I see these messages:
Esto es xine (IGU X11) - un reproductor de vídeo libre v0.99.5.
(c) 2000-2007 El Equipo de xine.

If I use my other xine (not distro provided but without vdpau support),
also I don't see any
artefact, however the video stops for a moment every second and a half
and I see these messages (unrelated to the image freezing):
[h264 @ 0x913ab30]non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period

[...]
(I missed the rest of the messages, since the laptop shut itself off,
maybe due to overheating, but after a while there were no more errors).
Other hd channels are fine, so I'm wondering if they changed something
with BBCHD or it's actually bad reception (even if there are no
uncorrected errors reported).
Bye
