FWIW, I just caught one of the rare programmes of itvhd (same satellite, 
same resolution 1440x1080 and similar bitrate though they almost never 
show anything) and it's fine.
The "artefacts" on bbchd seems like square "sparkling" spots of a 
previous image (sometimes even of several seconds ago).
