I have installed a linux system (sidux debian linux) from scratch to test
vdpau on my laptop with a 8400M graphic card with G86M gpu and 256 ram, 2 GB
memory, processor Intel Core Duo 1,8 GHz.
What I have done:
1) Uninstalled completely libxine and related packages, uninstalled ffmpeg,
x264, vdr.
2) Installed x264, ffmpeg, libxine 1.2 with vdpau patch, vdr 1.77 with both
xineliboutput and vdr-xine plugins, mplayer all last development versions,
vdpau r262.
3) Disabled CPU frequency scaling and set xorg to no composite. Disabled all
unecessary services.
4) Changed xine config (and also xineliboutput config) to frames 22 and tempted
various amount of video buffers (500, 900, 5000 as suggested on the vdr wiki).
Tried bob and temporal as deinterlacing method.
5) Tried last unstable nvidia driver and last stable.
I have worked almost a week!
The results:
1) MPLAYER with file: most of time crash, completly unusable.
2) VDR from live HD satellite (Sky Italia) with xineliboutput: squares or
image stall every 1-2 seconds.
3) VDR from live HD satellite (Sky Italia) with vdr-xine: if I am lucky video
is present but not fluid, but most of times will not start with black image or
"flashing squares".
4) XINE with sample HD satellite .ts file: it seems working but some "comb
effects" on movements suggest problems in deinterlacing (with xine-lib < 1.2
image stalls every 1-2 seconds)
CPU use is about 50-60% or more in all cases!!!
Any suggestions?
